Futsal Success Story!

Posted by admin on Monday Feb 8, 2010 Under Futsal Success Stories
A FUTSAL SUCCESS STORY!

From the mailbag:

During the off-season last year both of my daughters participated in Mario’s futsal clinics. Later, my younger daughter was coached by Mario during the soccer season. Mario’s futsal clinics helped both of my daughters improve their ball handling skills significantly in a short period of time. Also, because the game of futsal is a faster pace and higher scoring game than traditional soccer the kids had a lot of fun, and they developed an even better eye for the goal.
In the soccer season that followed my daughters participation in Mario’s soccer season my older daughter had her highest scoring season to date scoring as many as 4 or 5 goals in a single game. My younger daughter had as many as 6 goals in a game, and so far she has scored 73 goals this year, and we still have some more soccer to play.
The bottom line is that I would recommend Mario’s futsal clinics to any parent that has a child that enjoys the game of soccer and has a desire to improve their skills during the off-season.

Keep training! Rainy day training tips from Mario!

Posted by admin on Friday Feb 5, 2010 Under Training tips

It may be raining, but that doesn’t mean your training has to stop.

Put on some indoor shoes, find some open floor space, grab a ball, put on some fun music, and follow these tips from Mario for indoor training:

SIC-SAC TOUCH: ball touches with inside feet sideways/left to right in a rapid motion

1) in place – find a comfortable rhythm

2) moving straight forwards – do not extend your touches

3) moving straight backwards – do not bend your back

4) moving sideways/lateral – maintain the same touches both feet

5) in circle – around the world both ways – explore the size of the circle

6) moving freely around – have fun, experiment, be innovative

7) eyes closed – good for balance, space awareness, breathing pattern

8 ) changing pace – be creative and have fun

9) arms swinging as if in running – maintain small touches

10) moving freely checking over both shoulders – make believe game situation

Head is up – chin is up – elbows bent at 90 degree angle still – back is straight – knees are slightly bent – feet are light and fast – the ball is underneath the body, not in front – touches to outside are not long and extended, but rather small, quick and soft – touches on the ball should be with a sense of a magnetic field, with soft touches and a nice rhythm –everything is quick and easy with no hard effort, but rather light and relaxed – DO NOT LOOK AT THE BALL!
